Dr. Jyotismita Taye
Dr. Jyotismita Taye is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), working with Dr. Sarah Giddings. Her current research at SIO focuses on estuarine and inlet hydro-morphodynamics. Prior to joining SIO in Dec 2024, Jyotismita was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Central Florida, working with Dr. Kelly Kibler. Her research broadly centers on understanding the hydrodynamics of coastal and riverine environments and sediment transport dynamics, with particular interests in flow-biota interactions (such as with mangroves, seagrass, oysters, and other coastal vegetation), the design of natural infrastructure and habitats, sediment transport processes in natural and engineered aquatic systems, and nearshore morphological changes. Jyotismita earned her Ph.D. in 2021 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, India, under the supervision of Dr. Bimlesh Kumar. Outside of research, she enjoys hiking, photography, cooking, and watching sunrises and sunsets from new places.
